Dates for SLMS 2012

The dates for the 2012 SLMS Conference will be May 3-5, with May 4 being the dates of the Knickerbocker Awards AND, coincidentally, First Friday in Binghamton!

BookFest at Discovery Center Saturday Nov. 20

Starr Latronica announced at our meeting last week that the Discovery Center will be hosting their annual BookFest on Saturday, Nov. 20. Our organization has typically maintained a presence at the BookFest with a table manned (or womaned!) by our members where attendees make bookmarks or door hangers. I believe this is something we should consider doing again this year. Make sure to mark it on your calendars and be prepared to sign up for a time slot to work at the event. January meeting of SLST-East

How wonderful to see so many of you on Wednesday! We had 19 in attendance, which was terrific, and enjoyed delicious snacks, a stimulating discussion regarding digital literacy, and an interesting perspective on the pros and cons of having a cafe in the library, courtesy of Kari O'Donnell. Kari was our delightful hostess at Windsor High School and made us all feel welcome as we oohed and ahhed over the cafe (we even got to taste the coffee!).
